Caller ID on PetDesk Phones lets your team see caller information, so you can quickly recognize pet parents and understand the context of a call before you answer. This article explains how Caller ID works within the PetDesk Phones system, what information may appear, and how it interacts with your clinic’s configured settings. Use this feature to streamline call handling, improve client interactions, and ensure your front desk has the insight it needs right when calls come in.
Caller ID is updated by telephone service providers and maintained by third-party CNAM (Calling NAMe) database providers. Unfortunately, there is no standard or governing body regulating these CNAM providers, so Caller ID information can vary, be outdated, or be missing. As a result, your Caller ID may display inconsistently and can be somewhat challenging to control.
Checking & Managing Caller ID
You can look up your number and see how your Caller ID is displayed by visiting https://calleridtest.com.
If you would like to update your Caller ID, please contact our support team at phonesupport@petdesk.com with the phone number and the updated Caller ID information you would like displayed.
Note: Your Caller ID is limited to 15 characters, including spaces. Additionally, Caller ID requests can take 5-7 business days or longer to be updated across all CNAM providers.
Caller ID and Cell Phones
Most cellular providers do not support Caller ID and strip the caller's number of its Caller ID information before connecting the call. Smartphones attempt to resolve this dilemma by searching through their files to determine if they can find a name or company that matches the incoming phone number.
